Malta-based cryptocurrency exchange Binance has announced the launch of a fundraising campaign to help the victims of Hurrican Dorian.
Established under its Binance Charity Foundation division, the Hurricane Dorian Relief Project will show all donations on the blockchain and will accept payments in bitcoin, Binance coin and XRP, according to the announcement on Twitter.

Dorian, a class-five – the most severe storm classification – hurricane, devastated areas of the Bahamas earlier this week, before making landfall over the US in North Carolina on Thursday, where it had dropped in severity, but still caused widespread storm-surge flooding.
Binance co-founder and chief executive Changpeng Zhao said on the Twitter post that Hurricane Dorian has already damaged over 13,000 homes leaving more than 400,000 people in need of “immediate aid and supplies”. He added:
Let’s join Binance Charity Foundation and use blockchain for good to help build a better future for those affected.
On September 2 PO8, a Bahamian marine archaeology company that uses blockchain for investment transactions, established a similar charity called The Bahamas Blockchain Hurricane Dorian Relief Fund (BBHDRF).
